BIO Ferdinand Meier

Ferdinand Meier is a 43 year old mechanical engineer from Munich, Germany. He finished his degree in 2005 at the "Munich University of Applied Sciences". He gained professional experience working at: MTU Aero Engines, aeronautical industry; INNOMED GmbH, medical engineering; KD-Ingenieurtechnik, design of high precision parts for aerospace industry; and IGEL AG, design of engine parts for BMW (v12 Cylinderheads, v8 Crankcase, 3-cylinder motor). He worked in Barcelona in the design of parametric family parts in Autodesk Revit and spent a year with the artist community "alg-a".

In 2014 he finished a masters degree at the MIT-Portugal in Sustainable Energy Systems. And while working at the fablab EDP in Lisbon he received his diploma for the FabAcademy a course on digital fabrication.

He was an active member of Lisbon's hackerspace "altlab", with focus on digital fabrication and energy related topics.

In 2015 and 2016 he was working in the Fablab-Barcelona as an instructor for the FabAcademy. Since then he has been freelancing and volunteering for Festool (DE), Soko.tech (ES), Farmlab Algarve (PT), IAAC (ES), Burning-man (US), "Oficinas do convento" (PT), "Makers in little Lisbon" (PT) "Art bike Invasion" (LT) and Fablab Bilbao (ES).

In 2020/21 he was working at Fablab Kamp-Lintfort in Germany.
