"Everything is Awesome!: Building, Collaborating, and Learning in a Library Makerspace"

Makerspaces, or similarly called spaces, have taken home in higher education libraries. This presentation will highlight the work of the build IT makerspace at San Diego State University Library. It will briefly cover how librarians can implement and sustain a makerspace including strategies to promote collaboration and experimentation. Then it will describe how librarians can leverage these spaces to improve the information literacy skills and digital fluency of their students. Finally, it will share the amazing unexpected benefits for students and librarians that result from makerspaces in higher education libraries.
