Glass / enamels / card masks / white LED ceiling panel.
This piece uses enamels on glass with card masks to modulate and colour the pure white light produced by a ceiling panel. Reflected light combines to induce colour graduations around the masked out spots on the glass surface. This is an exploration of a novel technique for controlling light through a glass artefact, and it is hoped that the technique may be developed in future works.
"Færie" refers to mythical spirits from European folklore, often possessing magical powers and a capricious nature. They are rooted in Celtic and Germanic traditions, often associated with nature, hidden realms, and playing tricks on humans. In it's subtly and indirectness, this work attempts to reflect some of that spirit.

The Seeds We Sow brings together the works of Ema Reis and Julie van Riel in a dialogue on transformation, fragility, decay and growth. Working with glass and ceramics they explore materials where time becomes visible and change leaves its trace.
Julie van Riel works with the slow transformation of matter.
Water drips from glass holders onto copper or bentonite then onto ceramics and metal, leaving traces of oxidation and change over time. Inspired by amphoras and pendulums, her work explore water as a quiet force through which time reveals itself.
Ema Reis develops an interconnected visual language across glass and ceramics, where forms continuously return in different states. Delicate ceramic combs and curved glass forms echo growth, repetition, and transformation, existing as fragile structures caught in the process of becoming.

Junho
De 1-5 - Maria Reis e Joana Gonçalves

In a society increasingly shaped by appearance, conformity, and external validation, the works of Joana Gonçalves and Maria Reis explore what lies beneath the surface of the human body, a dimension often overlooked in contemporary life. Their practices bring to the forefront concepts such as emotion, memory, fragility, instinct, and individuality.

Inspired by nature and biological systems, the exhibition reflects on the body as both vessel and battlefield, shaped by invisible tensions between inner and outer realities that reveal the abstraction and complexity of human nature.

Joana’s practice centres on experimentation with the materiality and expressive potential of glass, while Maria’s work unfolds through detail, sensitivity, and a deliberate construction across ceramics and glass.

Together, these transformative materials become vehicles for exploring vulnerability, , and the intimate relationship between the physical and emotional self.
